Introduction

Visit the website. A great list of information can be found here: http://co.91.com/guide/guides/gameplay.shtml Things found on this thread is for the most common questions and consists of information for all new players of Conquer Online.

What is Conquer Online?

Conquer Online is an action mmo which takes place in ancient china. A greater emphasis is placed on player interaction rather than some large in game plot. In most servers, the player defines who is popular, who their villains are and the out casts of society through their own judgements from their interaction with other players.

The game currently has five official classes at the time of this guide, with a sixth class in the works. The current classes are: Trojan (offensive fighter), Warrior (Defensive tank), Archer (ranged attacker), Fire Taoist (offensive magic caster) and Water Taoist (Healer). Most recently TQ revealed that the sixth class to be released will be the class of Ninja. Currently not too many details have been released on this class but by checking the official website http://co.91.com/index/ or keeping an eye on the official Ninja thread in the community section http://bbs.co.91.com/showthread.php?t=524140, you can catch new info as it is released.

Getting Started

How do I start playing the game?

First, download the game: http://co.91.com/downloads/client.shtml

While you are doing that, you could take the time to create an account. Go here: https://account.91.com/common/signup...tp://co.91.com to create your account. Remember if you already play a game made by TQ already (ie: Zero Online, The Warlords Online, Eudemons Online, Monster and Me, Way of the Five or Crazy Tao) you already have a TQ account which can be used in the game.

After your download is finished, install the game and let the autopatch server run. If your Autopatch server does not work, please install the patches manually: http://co.91.com/downloads/patch.shtml. Conquer must be fully patched up-to-date to run properly. Remember to install them in your CO folder.

Any issues with installing, patching, or connecting to the game, please visit our FAQ section of the forum and post there: http://bbs.co.91.com/forumdisplay.php?f=9.

How many characters can I have?

You can have as many characters as you want but you can not have more than two characters online at the same time to one computer. Your account id allows you to create one character per server. So it is possible to have two characters online using the same account id but both characters must exist in different servers for this to work. If you wish to have second character in a server you already have one character in, you will need to create a second TQ account (Same link as listed above for creating an account).

First time in the game

What is all this stuff on my screen mean?

After you log into the game for the first time, you may want to look at the link below for an explanation of what each button and icon represents. Not all of the icons that appear on the screen might be on the link provided however information about them can be found under specific titles below. http://co.91.com/guide/guides/basicint.shtml

What is a Merchant Account?

http://co.91.com/guide/guides/merchantaccount.shtml

TQ released this new feature in patch 5022 to allow players to continue the sale of their items which was now limited by the item lock feature (one of three new changes to the game released in the patch). Item lock (explained more under its own title) would prevent more rare items from being sold on normal accounts and by using a Merchant Account players would then be granted the ability to sell these items.

A merchant account is not required however they are handy when you reach the high levels and are able to obtain high quality gear that you do not need or just wish to sell. By using a merchant account you can sell these equipments if they are unlocked and do not have to worry about the restrictions from the Special Items Sales feature (explained under its own title). It is advised though that you start off with a Normal account to take advantage of the Item Lock security features.

Where am I?

At the top left of your screen, to the right of your server name are the map coordinates which are used to represent where you are in given map. For example, [Pyramid] (111,234) the highlighted are your coordinates and can help friends find your location faster.

How do I use spells and skills?

Skills are separated into passive and active. Passive skills are usually weapon skills and are activated automatically. Active skills, on the other hand need to be cast by the player. Most Taoist spells are active skills. To use a spell, select one from your list of skills, then right click to use. Some spells and skills cannot be used if the object you are aiming for is too far away. Mana is required for most Taoist magic spells. Your mana (mp = magic points) is the blue portion in the orb at the bottom left of the screen. Drink a MP potion to refill it so you can use your spells again. In the game of Conquer Online each of the classes has various abilities that can be used in the game. At the very beginning, Taoists are the only class with mana although much later into the game other classes are able to gain mana whether distributing their ability points (see reborn) or thru in game items.

For the non Taoist classes, skills will require either stamina (Yellow bar between health and mana) or a full XP bar. Stamina can be replenished by sitting and lost if hit while sitting. It takes about 20 seconds to refill the stamina bar while sitting and about 1 minute and 5 seconds to restore while standing. The XP bar charges while your character is alive and online. Should your character***8217;s health hits 0, the XP bar resets.

Where do I get promoted?

In twin city, you will see a portal located at (402, 388) in Twin City between the Guild Director and WhsGuardian. Enter that portal to go to the Job Center. Each class will have their own NPC for promotion. You can also learn class specific spells at each of the Job Center NPCs.

- Warrior speaks with WarriorGod at (033, 065)

- Archer speaks with ArcherGod at (033, 053)

- Trojan speaks with TrojanGod at (044, 033)

- Water Taoist speaks with TaoistMoon (056, 033)

- Fire Taoist speaks with TaoistStar (059, 033)

- TaoistStar (060, 033) allows both Taoists to learn beginning skills, such as meditate, thunder and cure (if they were not learnt in Birth Village), fire (for free if you are a fire Taoist, thunder level 4 and level 40 character required). Note: If you are a water, you'll have to buy fire at market's Pharmacist. Again, you'll need to be level 40 and have your thunder fixed.

- MightyTao (066, 033) teaches the reborn summon skills: Summon guard at level 15 (requires 1 euxenite ore) and summon pet at level 40 (requires 1 gold ore).

Where can I buy weapons and armor?

Each city has a Blacksmith (weapon seller) and several other cities have Armorers and Storekeepers, however, Twin City and Desert City are the only places that sell body armors.

As you level up and are able to gain more gold to purchase items, try buying new equipment from the market from other players.

Things to know by heart

What is Potency?

http://co.91.com/guide/guides/calculate.shtml

Potency is a numerical value assigned to every character to represent how powerful they are in the world of Conquer Online (kind of like power levels if you are a dragon ball z fan). Potency is calculated based on the strength of your equipment so the stronger they are the higher your potency becomes. There are two major features to potency:
  • Increased leveling experience. Your potency is a large factor in the calculation of the experience you receive while leveling in the game.

  • Increased defense and attack. In situations where you are in combat with other players, higher potency will increase your defense and attack from lower potency characters.

At the time of this guide, potency was announced for a name change. When this happens, it shall be reflected here.

What is Nobility?

http://co.91.com/content/2008-02-29/...03108707.shtml

By donating in game silver, you earn a rank that rewards extra potency. After your first donation of 30,000,000 silver, additional gold donated adds for your in game rank.

What acronyms should I become aware of?

A great list is compiled in this thread: http://bbs.conqueronline.com/showth...threadid=230591.

What do you mean by different qualities?

In Conquer Online there are several different qualities that represent how powerful an item is.

For equipment, the qualities from weakest to strongest are: Normal, Refined, Unique, Elite and Super.

For gems, the qualities from weakest to strongest are: Normal, Refined and Super.

Why do monsters have different color names?

http://co.91.com/guide/guides/fight.shtml

Each set of monsters are a different level:
  • Green-named: these monsters are lower than your level and will deal minimal damage to you.

  • White-name: these monsters are your level and it is where you should be leveling; if your level ends with a 0, 1, 5, 6 and mobs are white-named for you, you will deal double damage to them while leveling.

  • Red-named: these monsters are slightly higher level than you; you stand a chance killing them if you have decent armor and will gain decent experience.

  • Black-named: these monsters are more than 4 levels higher than you, depending on where you are and your level, many of these will 1-hit kill you; if you have good magic defense and are in a magic attack mob area, these monsters will deal damage to you, but you stand a chance of killing them without being killed.

What are PK points?

http://co.91.com/guide/guides/aboutpk.shtml

PK points are acquired when killing another player who is not red-named, blue-named, or black-named. When you kill a white-named player, you will gain 10 PK points. You will gain 3 pk points if the player you killed is in an enemy guild and 5 pk points if the player is in your enemy list. You can kill many red and black-named players without gaining any PK points.

As a red or black named player is killed, they are sent immediately to jail and must pay the fine or wait until they are white named to be released. It takes 6 minutes for 1 PK point to go down.

A red named player is a player who has 30-99 pk points.
A black named player is a player who has more than 100 pk points.

Optional Activities

What is the deal with marriage?

http://co.91.com/guide/guides/marriage.shtml

After level 20, you can go to the market or MatchMaker in Desert City and get married.

Advantages of marriage:
  • Additional team experience when your spouse kills.

  • Items and cash dropped from monsters can be picked up by spouse.

  • Entry to each others***8217; house without having to join a team.

  • Sharing house item boxes.

Disadvantages of marriage:
  • Entry to each others***8217; house without having to join team.

  • Sharing house item boxes, so if you get in a fight or something, they can be mean and steal the items.

  • If your ***8220;love***8221; is no longer there, getting divorced requires a meteor and meteor tear.

What is a guild?

http://co.91.com/guide/guild1.shtml

A guild is a group created by a player to connect a group of players meet a certain goals or to collect specific groups of people. To create a guild, your character must be level 90 and there is a one million (1,000,000) gold requirement. When your guild is created, your guild will receive five hundred thousand (500,000) gold as its guild fund which must be kept above 0 to survive.

Guild war is an event held every week where all guilds on the server can compete for the title as the top guild. The reward for the winning guild is 3000cps, ability to place statues of the guild leader and deputies in the guild castle area, the ability to change the guild conductresses to most locations in Conquer and free entrance to the training grounds.

Where can I get a house?

http://co.91.com/guide/guides/buildhouse.shtml

Players who seek to own their own home can do so by mining ores and exchanging them for wood. The benefits of owning your own home is being able to add furniture and an extra item box to store items. While the process itself is long some players do the quest and sell the House permit to other players for a price. Keep in mind that a 300,000 gold deposit is also required with the house certificate and that the price of the certificate (if buying from a player) varies on each server.

Useful features

What is training grounds? How do I enter?

http://co.91.com/guide/guides/trainingground.shtml

Training grounds (TG) is a place available to players to enter for a price of 1,000 (1k) gold to level while away from the computer. Experience in training grounds is nothing compared to the experience you would gain from leveling on monsters, but if you do not always have time to level, you can just go to TG.

In order to use TG, you must be level 20. Find the Boxer in one of the cities to enter. If your guild wins the current week***8217;s guild war, entrance to TG is free.

Find your appropriate level stakes or scarecrows and attack. Magic attacks must be dealt to scarecrows, melee attacks to stakes.

TG is sectioned by levels:

Top left: 20, 30, 40, 50, 60
Top right: 25, 35, 45, 55, 65
Bottom left: 70, 80, 90, 100, 110, 120
Bottom right: 75, 85, 95, 105, 115, 125

Please note:
  • As you gain higher levels, leveling both in TG and outside of TG will become more difficult.

  • If you are disconnected while in TG, you will appear in the city you entered TG the next time you log in. So please make sure that valuable items are not in your inventory unless you entered TG from twin city or the items are locked.

What is the Lottery?

http://co.91.com/guide/guides/lottery.shtml

The lottery is an event that allows players to win rare and powerful equipment and items to be used in the game. To participate in the lottery, your character must be level 70 or higher and must have 27 cps.

What is the Shopping Mall?

http://co.91.com/guide/guides/cpshop.shtml

The in game item mall is a feature that allows you to purchase rare items that will be beneficial to you during your adventures in Conquer Online. You need cp to purchase any of the items in the Shopping Mall however there are some players who sell some of these items in the market.

What are meteors, meteor tears and dragonballs for?

http://co.91.com/guide/guides/improve.shtml

Meteors are used to upgrade the level of items, repairing damaged equipment, and required for level 100 promotions. Meteor tears are also used to upgrade the level of items, and are required for divorce. Dragonballs are required to upgrade the quality of items, to be released from botjail (if caught cheating in game), used for experience (special in game quest), to level items past level 120 and to add a socket to your equipment to hold gems. The higher the quality and level the items are, the more meteors/ meteor tears or dragon balls it will require to upgrade them.

You can upgrade your equipment in Twin City at Artisan Wind. Upgrades in twin may require fewer meteors/DBs to upgrade, but you have the chance of failing. The Magic Artisan in the market requires more meteors/DBs to upgrade an item but he will NEVER fail if you decide to upgrade your items at market.

Both artisans have a chance for giving sockets to items.

Promotions in later levels

I***8217;m level 70, where can I find an emerald?

An emerald is required for level 70 promotion. They can be found from HillMonsters in the bottom right-hand corner of the Desert map. If you cannot kill them, try to buy one from another player in the market.

I got a Moon Box. What can I use it for?

A moon box is required for level 110 promotion, in which a DB is the reward of the promotion.

Moon boxes also can be opened for a variety of different prizes: refined items, elite items, super items, socketed non-weapon items (such as a 1 socket ring) and can be sold to fellow players in need of one. Note like all items, their price will vary on your server.

How do I get reborn?

Water Taoists at level 110 and other classes at level 120 are eligible for First rebirth although they can level further for more attribute points to be earned after rebirth. For second rebirth all classes must be at least level 120.

One of the major benefits of rebirth is to decide how many points you want to distribute to each stat which before reborn was always decided by the system.

See information about first and second rebirth here: http://co.91.com/guide/reborn.shtml

Note cause new players get a bit confused. However when you reborn, your gears do not change into a new class gears. They just go back to level 15 which means if you were a warrior and you reborn water, you will need to buy a Taoist robe and your warrior armour will be level 15.

How do I get a guard?

A guard is one of two summon skills learnt after rebirth. To learn guard summon the character must be level 15 and have 1 euxenite ore. The skill can be learnt in the job center. More information can be found here:

http://co.91.com/guide/reborn/rebornsummon.shtml

Player Security

What is Item Lock and what is it used for?

http://co.91.com/guide/guides/itemlock.shtml

Item lock was also released in Patch 5022 as a security feature to protect player’s equipment in the event that their characters are hacked or stolen. By clicking on the Item Lock button, a box appears and any piece of equipment that you want protect goes into the item slot above the lock button. After the item appears in the slot, press the lock button and your item shall be locked and the same process on locked equipment, unlocks them.

Locked equipment does not drop whether you are red named or black named and there is no limit to the amount of gear that you can lock.

Tips for Item Lock:
  • Lock your most valuable piece of equipment unless you plan on selling it soon.

  • In the event you want to trade or sell a locked piece of equipment, it is faster to add the person you want to trade to as a Trade partner (see below for information) rather than unlocking the piece of equipment.

  • Remember that you can not sell your highest potency item of your class. You can trade it to a trade partner who is a merchant account to sell it if you wish but remember that the merchant account does not have the same security features on the regular accounts.

  • If you locked a piece of equipment, you will be unable to trade or sell the piece of equipment in a market stall. Unlock the item if you plan on doing this in the future.

What are Trade Partners?

The introduction of trade partners also came in with patch 5022 which as you can tell now was a very important patch. The Trade partner feature allows you to select fellow players that you could trade freely with, without the item lock restriction. To add a trade partner, go to the “Friends” button and select the “Partner” option. From there click the “+Trade Partner” option and click on the person you want to add. It takes 3 days for a new trade partner to be added. Keep in mind you can only have 20 trade partners.

Tips for Trade Partners:
  • Add your extra characters as Trade partners so you can exchange any of your locked equipment you want shared between them.

  • Every time you log into the game, if you are waiting to add a new trade partner the game will have you revise and confirm that the person who is on your wait list. Make sure to check it to ensure that this IS the person you want added as a trade partner.
